REGIONAL PROJECTION #3
May 3, 2006

SCS.comIt's that time of year again! The national seeds are molding into shape, and the contenders are being separated from the pretenders. Nebraska has established itself as the team to beat for the last several weeks now.

Alabama is now the front-runner in the SEC, while Rice and Cal State-Fullerton are lurking for their chance to be a force in Omaha. Texas is also lingering and will likely be Omaha bound. The University of Kentucky is my darkhorse, as of now, for the national championship. The 'Cats averaged 500 fans a game last year and will likely be hosting a Regional this year, quite a turn-around and certainly the feel good story of the year in college baseball. The SEC could get 10 teams in the NCAA's, including LSU. I find it hard to believe that the Tigers will get left out unless they lose the remainder of their games.

Another team that can make some noise is the quiet but steady Mississippi Rebels, while teams that have me scratching head include Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Tulane. Those squads have the talent in place if they will come to play ball every night. This season has been exciting, and we still have a lot to go!
